Morning Chairman: George A. Tsavliris, Principal, Tsavliris Salvage Group
Mr. George A. Tsavliris was born in London. He graduated from Athens College in 1968 and having acquired professional qualifications in Shipping (F.I.C.S., ACI.Arb), he concluded his graduate and post graduate studies in Shipping Law at University College London in 1973, with an L.L.M. degree. In 2009 he was qualified as a Mediator at the ADR Group London and in 2014 was certified as a Mediator by the Greek Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights.
He familiarized himself with the shipping and salvage sectors from a very early age by being engaged in the family business. George is a Principal at “Tsavliris Salvage Group” and represents the business on both a commercial and environmental basis internationally. He holds the position of Past Chairman of INTERMEPA (International Marine Environment Protection Association), Chairman of CYMEPA (Cyprus Marine Environmental Protection Association), which received the “Cyprus Maritime Prize 2007”, as well as member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus Union of Shipowners, Board Member of ECSA (European Community Shipowners’ Associations), Board Member of The Yacht Club of Greece, Board Member of Friends of Hellas Liberty Association and the Jubilee Sailing Trust in the UK and Honorary Chairman of the Tsavliris Cultural Foundation. Furthermore, Mr. George Tsavliris is Member of the Academic Board of Metropolitan College / Solent Southampton University. Mr George Tsavliris was awarded the 2016 Capital Link Greek Shipping Leadership Award, in recognition of his unique and extensive contribution to Shipping and Greece and for his overall outstanding service to the shipping industry made by him individually, as a family and by his company as a Group. In Jan 2019, Mr Tsavliris received the Cyprus Environmental Award on behalf of CYMEPA by the President of the Cypriot Republic Mr Nikos Anastasiades and on March 12th, 2019, Mr Tsavliris was recognized with the Safety4Sea Leadership Award 2019 for his work with CYMEPA and other national & international organizations, toward the protection of the marine environment. Most recently, Mr Tsavliris was appointed Non-Executive Chairman of SSL Endeavour Insurance Brokers Cyprus & Greece.
George is a frequent keynote speaker and panelist at numerous maritime related conferences. He is an avid supporter of various charities, an art and music enthusiast and has completed ten London marathons. He is a father of six children.

Elias Divris is an experienced Key Account Manager in the Maritime Sector for Marlink. His role focuses on developing relationships with customers in the Greek and Cypriot Market regions.
Elias has a wealth of maritime experience, having worked with Marlink for nearly 15 years. He joined in 2006 as a Customer Consultant and then moved to Inside Sales in 2012 before promoting to his current role in 2017.
Before joining the Marlink team, Elias worked in the IT industry and has an impressive array of qualifications. He studied at Paisley, Glasgow and Northumbria University, gaining an MSC in IT, a PGDip in MIS and a BA in Business Administration. He is currently based in Marlink’s Greek office located in Piraeus.

Andreas Polidis, IT Advisor, Ionic Shipping
Andreas Polidis was born in Greece in 1971. He has a strong presence in the IT market for more than 25 years through which he has been involved successfully in numerus IT&T projects. He has been involved both in the analysis and design stages as well as in the implementation and project management. The wide range of IT areas covered along with the diversity of the projects involved helped him build a robust and enhance experience on IT&T requirements and specifications.
Fulfilling his childhood passion with electronics, he obtained a diploma in Electronic Engineering from a local private college and then moved on with a bachelor’s degree in “Computer Information Systems” and “Media Communications” from University of Indianapolis. As an enthusiastic IT professional, he always seeks knowledge and thus several certifications and seminars conclude his educational background, on an ongoing process.
Throughout his career he has worked for local IT companies but also for large multinational firms, obtaining various positions as a senior engineer and IT Manager. For 15 years as an IT&T senior consultant he helped organizations, so much in the private sector as well as in the public sector, to run complex and demanding projects in order to enhance their productivity and build the completive advantage required to maintain growth. The advance communication and collaboration skills along with the leadership aspect of his character constitute a result driven and successful consultant and project manager.
The last 5 years he works with Ionic Shipping (Mgt) Inc. in designing and implementing an upgraded IT&T infrastructure to support company’s operations and growth. With a focus on shipping challenges and the new regulations for cyber security, he designed and implemented a new IT solution for vessels, the V- BOX. The design of the V-BOX enhances security, reliability and performance of all vessel’s operations related to IT, while it standardizes and unifies all IT processes onboard based on the needs of the shipping company.

Thrasyvoulos holds a M.Sc. Prior to founding JiBe in 2013, Mr. Zghoul was the Co-Founder and President of SeaChange Maritime. SeaChange has developed a fleet of over 20 vessels and has built an end to end ship management company in Singapore. Prior to founding SeaChange, Mr. Zghoul worked for Ofer family in both Singapore and later in the US as part of an acquisition team in the offshore terminal segment. Prior to that, in 1999 Mr. Zghoul founded and headed Synergy Ventures, a New York based Venture Capital fund, focused on business to business web applications and Enterprise Software.

1999 I began working for SeaTel Europe in Antenna Manufacturing finishing in 2007 as European Service Manager.
2007 I was the founder & Director of International Ocean Networks operating a complete iDirect Satellite platform from a large UK teleport selling airtime services into the yachting industry until 2014. Responsible for business development, network development strategy and capacity procurement enabled a first-hand response to rapidly evolving market needs.
2014 I was the Co-Founder & Director of Voyager IP primarily reselling VSAT airtime into the yachting industry until 2015.
2015 I joined Intellian as Key Account Manager for Technical Support providing strategic project management for field upgrades and high-level technical management for ongoing support related issues until 2017.
2017 I moved from Intellian Technical Support Team to the Product Management Team providing ongoing feedback of customer requirements into the Intellian R&D team to enable new products being launched to fulfil the immediate requirements of the industry. This would also include pre-production testing of new antenna lines alongside strategic global accounts and the test & verification of new technologies such as LEO satellite compatibility etc.
Jens-Hallvard Klette, Platform & Engineering Manager, Telenor
Jens Hallvard Klette is the Platform & Engineering Manager at Telenor Satellite responsible for managing the service production platforms within the Data Services division. His department also has the overall responsibility for pre and post-sales technically support in addition to handling platform and service incidents and change orders at the expert level. Jens Hallvard has outstanding knowledge of the satellite industry with over 15 years of service with Telenor Satellite. His heavy involvement in the successful delivery and commercialisation of THOR 7, the first fully HTS satellite for Maritime in Europe, is testament of his goal-orientated and analytical mind. Jens Hallvard holds a bachelor engineer degree in Avionics from University of Stavanger and a Master of Science in Engineering, network planning and management from Aalborg University, Denmark.

He has delivered various projects including vessels server deployment and installation, ERP deployment at office headquarters and Fleet and security auditing and upgrade, also managed efficient communications with vessels, such as database and file synchronization between vessels and office headquarters. He graduated from the Piraeus University of Applied sciences as a Computer Systems engineer and since then, he tries constantly, to develop his skills in seaworthy solutions, in cyber security and network infrastructures. His target is to make seamen and colleagues to work safe, easier and together.
Tasos Makris, IT & Usability Consultant, Gourdomichalis Maritime
Tasos Makris is an Information Systems & Usability specialist. He holds a BSc in Physics and a Masters of Computer Science. He has worked in the Health sector in the U.K. and in the Greek Industry Automation Sector (Hercules Cement Corp./Amber) before joining the Maritime Sector in 1993 where he worked for Gourdomichalis Maritime as Information Systems Director and IT & Usability Consultant.
He has been involved with issues in Human Computer Interface and Software Usability principles since the mid ‘80s, as a means to improve the quality of software and human productivity. He applied extensively these principles during his career in software development and maintenance as IT Manager and has presented his work and ideas in various maritime conferences and has given yearly lectures to students of the Faculty of Communication & Media Studies of the University of Athens on Usability and UX topics on their importance and application in our everyday life.
He applied these ideas on Software Quality and recently led a Survey on AMMITEC members on the quality and friendliness of the ERPs used onboard and ashore.
An example of his recent UI/UX research activity is the study of the user interface problems of the Athens Metro Electronic Ticket, which affected millions of users and was presented on PCI2018 and published by ACM Press.
He is a founding member of the group which organizes every year the celebration of World Usability Day in Greece since 2008 and has been a member of its organizing committee since then (https://usability.ntlab.gr/) and a presenter.
He is also a founding member and member of BOD of the Association of IT Managers AMMITEC (https://www.ammitec.org/[TM1] ) since 2005 and a member of the Usability Professionals Association (UXPA), BCS and EEDE (Hellenic Management Association). Dimitris Lyras, CEO, Ulysses Systems
Mr. Lyras is a specialist in innovative decision assisting software, the co-author of 'The Future of Decision Making' (R.C.Shank, D.Lyras and E.Soloway, 2010). He has studied Mechanical Engineering at North Eastern University, Massachusetts, has been the Managing Director of Lyras Shipping (1996) and is the Founder, Owner and Investor of Ulysses Systems.
Mr. Lyras is involved in many initiatives aimed at assisting the shipping industry. In support of these initiatives, he has established collaboration with Universities in the development of educational packages and has a special interest in on-line training schemes for shipboard personnel. Mr. Lyras is a member of the Information Technology Committee of Intertanko, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights, and a Freeman of the City of London.
Eftihia Benaki, IT Manager / CySO, Minerva Marine
Eftihia is the IT Manager of Minerva Marine Inc. and has been with the company for 18 years. Her expertise lies in information systems, design of IT strategies and leading technology transformational projects. Previously she worked at E&Y, Intrasoft and the European Union, showing an intense interest in research & development, with active participation in European projects. She has a Bachelor in Computer Science from the Economic University of Athens and a Masters in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburg.
Katerina Raptaki, IT Manager, Navios Group of Companies, AMMITEC B.o.D
Katerina Raptaki is the IT Manager of Navios Group of companies, including 4 NYSE-listed companies, with branches in cities all over the world, owning and managing more than 150 vessels. Katerina is also the former president of AMMITEC, the Association of IT Managers in Shipping. She graduated from the National Technical University of Athens with a degree in Naval / Mechanical Engineering and has 28-years’ experience in IT and Communications.
With more than 16 years of experience in Shipping, having deep knowledge in Marine Satellite systems, vast experience in shipping software and Project Management, Katerina has been holding Managerial positions in various companies allowing her to have a full understanding of technical issues and operational procedures. Her excellent people management skills include the ability to transfer her expertise in technical systems delivery, business analysis and the management of cross-functional business projects and project teams.

16:20 Presentation: Unravelling the myth around cybersecurity: A system-of-systems analysis of the ship's ecosystem
Chronis Kapalidis, Associate Fellow, Chatham House
Chronis Kapalidis is an Associate Fellow at Chatham House, where his research is focused on maritime cybersecurity. He is also the European Representative of Hudson Analytix, promoting the company’s synergies in Europe on issues related to security, both physical and cyber. Additionally, he stands as visiting research fellow at the Dartmouth Centre for Seapower and Strategy at Plymouth University, and as a board member in several academic and scientific bodies. Chronis was an officer at the Hellenic Navy for 20 years.
He has published widely on some of the world's leading journals and has been a regular commentator for international news agencies on maritime security issues. Chronis has competed several projects at Chatham House on Cybersecurity for Critical National Infrastructure, in general, and the maritime sector specifically. He recently created the first digital learning course on maritime cybersecurity for Lloyd’s Maritime Academy.
He is currently based at the University of Warwick, where he is pursuing his doctoral degree on cyber risk quantification for the maritime sector. He holds an MA in International Relations and Global Security from Plymouth University, a PGCert in Defence Management and Leadership from the Hellenic Naval War College and BSc in Naval Warfare from the Hellenic Naval Academy, along with several professional certificates.

Kostas Grivas is the Information Security Officer of Angelicoussis Maritime Group. He is responsible for the Information Security strategy, policy and developments of all Group’s functions, both shore and vessels’ side. He is a Computer System professional with over 25 years of experience, 15 of them in the Maritime business.
Kostas has served as an IT Officer and Manager in various sectors such as Commerce, Manufacturing and Maritime. He holds a Bachelor degree in Computer Systems.
Matthew Maheras is the IT Manager of Metrostar Management Corp. He has a wide experience in managing innovative IT projects, typically involving Virtualization, Cloud and Mobile technologies, with focus on Cyber Security and Data Privacy. He holds a PhD in Operational Research from NTUA, and an MBA from Imperial College, London
Thodoris Efstathiou, Marine ICT Engineer, Equinox Maritime Ltd. Is Results-driven and innovative ICT professional with experience in the engineering and troubleshooting of diverse information systems and networks focusing on cybersecurity aspects. He has been delivering various challenging and demanding projects on board vessels and at offices' headquarters since 2016. He holds a BSc in Electronic Computer Systems Engineering from Higher Education Technological Institute of Piraeus and a MSc (Hons) in Advanced Software Engineering with minor in Information Security from the University of Sheffield. He has been certified from Cisco, National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS). Thodoris is also AMMITEC member.
George I. Tsivgoulis received the Bachelor degree in marine engineering from the Hellenic Naval Academy (HNA) in 2001 and the M.Sc in electrical engineering and the electrical engineer Degree from the U.S Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in 2009. He is currently working towards his Ph.D in telecommunications in the Intelligent Communication and Broadband Networks Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
Mr. Tsivgoulis served as electrical and electronics engineer and as chief engineer onboard various warships of the Hellenic Navy and as deputy technical manager in the Hellenic Navy’s Frigate Command. In 2015 he joined Thenamaris Ships Management Inc., Athens, where he is holding the position of the Electrical Supervisor leading a team of electrical engineers responsible for the electronics, radio navigation, telecommunications, OT computer and networks, electrical and automation systems of the managed vessels.
His research interests include: transmission techniques in MIMO/OFDMA systems, Wi-Fi networks in high reverberant spaces, Smart ships, VSAT communications, wireless sensor networks and digital signal processing.
Mr. Tsivgoulis is a Registered Electrical Engineer and member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.
Antonis Valakas is a member of the sales engineering team of Fortinet Greece. He has held presales & advisory positions in Citrix & Oracle in core security applications & services and has been actively engaged in compliance and organizational security policy development as information security officer. He has also participated in numerous projects in the IT & Telco industry in cloud services development, ITSM & NMS architecture & implementation. He holds a degree in electrical engineering & computer science from the National Technical University of Athens.

Captain Rohit Tandon is a master mariner with 25 years of association with the shipping industry.
He stepped into the world of shipping industry in the year 1994, when he took the career of a seafarer. During his years of sailing at sea, he has served on a wide range on cargo vessels including Tankers, Bulk Carriers and Reefers.
After serving as the Captain for a variety of ships, in 2007, he came to Cyprus, and took on a shore job with FML Ship Management Ltd.
Fleet Management Ltd. (FML) is the one of the largest independent third-party ship management company in the world. The company with its offices spread across the globe currently manages more than 520 ships worldwide.
In Cyprus, Capt. Rohit Tandon has been handling the Quality, Safety and Operations Department of the company. In addition to being the Head of Operations for the Cyprus fleet of FML, he is also the DPA (Designated Person Ashore) & CSO (Chief Security Officer) of the company.
He has been instrumental in implementing ISO standards in his company, and achieving certifications well ahead in time. For example, MLC certification in office & ship on voluntarily basis in year 2009, ISO 50001 Energy Efficiency in year 2013, TMSA 3 in year 2017, ISO 27001 information Security Management System in year 2018 & ISO 45001 in year 2019.
Capt. Rohit Tandon is also a member of MICS (Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers), UK. and is currently pursuing a diploma in Shipping Insurance from North of England P&I.
He also holds a Masters degree in Financial Management & International Trade and a Masters degree in Operational Management, from premier universities in India.
He is a supporter and promoter of shipping industry in Cyprus and the Cyprus Registry Flag for the vessels.

Alberto Perez work as Director Business Development within Inmarsat, looking after new business ideas and partnerships. Prior to joining Inmarsat he worked for 11 years in ABB Marine holding different global positions of responsibility in the areas of Sales, Business Development and Product Management, helping ship-owner and ship operators to gain efficiencies and reduce emissions by using a combination of cutting edge technologies and a sensible use of data. He is also an active contributor in terms of shipping regulation, having been a member of European Commission Working Group on Shipping Emissions reduction. He holds a Master degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Politecnica de Madrid and a MBA from IE Business School in Madrid. On a personal note, he is originally from Spain but lives with his wife and two kids in the French speaking part of Switzerland where they enjoy hiking and skiing in the Alps.

Dimitriadis has a multi-year experience in structured finance and transportation/maritime industries serving various senior positions while he joined the S-Group in May 2016 as Chief Strategy Officer both in Stalwart Management Ltd & S-Bulkers. Previously, he was Director of Investment Banking & Advisory in XRTC Ltd (Advisor to China Development Bank) developing and managing shipping portfolio, debt and equity capital markets origination, distressed assets restructuring, corporate advisory, as well as M&As deals structuring. In 2010, he and his company XRTC Ltd won in Lloyds List Greek Shipping awards the Greek Shipping Financier award.
From 2006 to 2009 he was Relationship Manager in XRTC Ltd, which acted as Representative of Natixis in Greece, where he gained experience in debt portfolio management, deal origination & underwriting for structured finance as well as project finance.
Prior joining Greek Navy to fulfill his military duties, he was appointed in the Ministry for Rural Development & Food in 2004, as an Advisor of the Minister.
Between 2002-2004, he served Piraeus Port Authority S.A. as Advisor of its Chairman & CEO with focus in financial & administrative restructuring & re-engineering, IPO listing, Container & Car Terminals operations management & strategic expansion as well as ISPS Code and security measures during the Olympic Games of 2004.
Mr. Dimitriadis holds a BSc in Business Administration-Finance from University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, an MSc in International Transport from Cardiff University of Wales, an MSc in Political Economy & Economics from London School of Economics & Political Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Conflict Crisis Management Resolution from University of Aberdeen.
From March 2011 to January 2014 he was appointed by Greek government as Executive Director in the BoD of Corinth Canal Co. He is a Class A’ Accountant and he has a strong academic record. Mr. Dimitriadis is Governor of the Board of International Propeller Club (Chairman of Administration Committee), Port of Piraeus, member of Intertanko Hellenic Mediterranean Panel, as well as member in various other local and international professional groups.

Harris Daskalakis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1981.
He holds a Bachelors Degree with Honours in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, U.S , as well a Masters Degree with Honours from the London School of Economics, UK, in European Law and Government.
He has completed his military service in the Navy in the year 2005, and has worked as an analyst in the National Bank of Greece from 2006 until 2008.
In the year 2009 he was assigned the role of Executive Director for the International Schools of Greece, and in the year 2011, he was assigned the role of Executive Director at BCA College.
In the year 2014, he founded Athens Tech College , a computer engineering College offering Bachelors and Masters degrees in partnerhsip with the University of Sheffield, as well as the startup company “e-ducation” offering production, training and educational games for e-learning.
Mr. Daskalakis is an elected member of the Greek Chamber of Commerce as well as treasurer of the Greek Entrepreneurs Association.
He is married and has two daughters.

Prior to McKinsey, he co-founded Aviation Edge, a tech company specializing on software solutions for air traffic management and airport operations. Nikolas holds a PhD from MIT and Bachelor and Masters from Imperial College London.
